EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- East Rutherford’s Daisy Girl Scout Troop 96872 held its "Bridging to Brownies" ceremony over the weekend.
A symbolic foot bridge was placed in front of the gazebo Saturday on Railroad Avenue and Everett Place where the Girl Scouts had recently planted flower boxes and flowers.
Each of 14 girls crossed over the foot bridge, where a family member removed the Daisy tunic and troop leaders bestowed the Brownie sash, acknowledging that they are now Girl Scout Brownies.
The girls also received their bridging certificates and rainbow bridging patches, as family and friends cheered them on.
Scout leaders Stephanie Arcell, Liz Bucceri, Meredith Coronato, and Meghan Havriliak beamed with pride as each girl received gifts to close the ceremony.
Beverages, brownies and cupcakes were served.
"The gazebo area was a perfect site to host such an event" Councilman Joel Brizzi said. "They couldn’t have asked for a better morning."
