“Local businesses and restaurants donate their favorite dish and everyone can come taste it,” Susanna Kevra, recording secretary for the Rutherford Women’s Club and resident for the past 46 years, told Daily Voice.
There are at least 25 different restaurants participating from Rutherford, East Rutherford, Carlstadt, Lyndhurst and Kearny.
“We have a large variety of tastes for people,” Kevra said. “Food that varies from Chinese to Italian to Cuban and more.”
The event costs $25 and allows locals to sample all the delights. Coffee, tea and water will be served and BYO wine or beer.
Proceeds benefit the Women’s Club, which then distribute the funds to local charities and offer scholarships to students. Some of the donations will also be used towards restoring the club house at 201 Fairview Avenue, where the event is being held.
Built in the 1890s, the club house is in need of restoration and members are currently trying to get the building listed on the national and state register of historic places.
“The Women’s Club purchased the building in 1924 and we are trying to keep it for future generations,” Kevra said.
The event runs from from 6 to 9 p.m.
