RUTHERFORD, N.J. —The Williams Center in Rutherford will host its first ever "Comic Con" this weekend in an effort to raise funds to help save the fledgling theater and event hall.

All proceeds from the event will go towards leasing three digital projectors, which will give Rutherfordians a consistent reason to patronize the Center, 'Comic Con' Chairman Mike Coleman told Daily Voice ( SEE: Volunteers Aim To Save Rutherford Performing Arts Center ).

"If we get the digital projectors we can screen first-run movies and operate the Center daily as a movie theater," Coleman told Daily Voice.

Tickets for Comic Con are $15 each. The list of events is as follows:

Friday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Grindhouse Theater.
  • Meet & Greet and autograph signing with Steve Savino from Discovery Channel's "Toy Hunter."
  • "Walking Dead" Magazine Artists Will Torres and William Olmo will be "zombifying" fans on a Walking Dead sketch cover.
  • Screenings of the TV Show "Gumby."
  • Musical guests "Solid Goold" and Jordan Simms.
  • Video game room.

Saturday 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Meet & greet and autograph signing with voice actor Johnny Brennan from "Family Guy" and "Jerky Boys."
  • Meet & greet and autograph signing WWE Wrestlers Tito Santana, James "Little Guido" Maritato, Tony Mamaluke, Andrew Anderson.
  • Q&A session with Steve Savino from Discovery Channel's "Toy Hunter."
  • Meet & greet and autograph signing DC Comic Artist Paris Cullins.
  • Meet & greet and autograph signing with DC and Marvel Comic Artist Mike Sellers.
  • Meet & greet with local Comic Artist George Vega.
  • Screenings of the TV Show "Gumby."
  • "Inside Joke Films" comic block from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring Steve Way, Kyle Kolich, and John Braylock ( SEE: Rutherford Man Proves Laughter Best Medicine For Muscular Dystrophy ).
  • Performances from "American Idol" contestants Justin Sullivan and Lester Pernala.
  • Video game room.

"I hope people come out and show support because really this center is for all of us," Coleman told Daily Voice. "Come see the amazing place you have where we can hopefully host events for years to come."
