FAIR LAWN, N.J. — The idea at Benny's Luncheonette in Fair Lawn is fairly simple: go big or go home.

The diner sold more than 400 pounds of corned beef and cabbage this St. Patrick's Day, owner Diana Stella told Daily Voice.

"It's crazy," she said, "and they're still coming."

Other lunch specials included corned beef and cabbage sliders, quiche with corned beef, Swiss cheese and fried onions and corned beef fritters.

A few doors down, Benny's Bakery and Ice Cream Shoppe churned out almost 40 Shamrock Shakes.

Diana and her wife, Pamela, took over the luncheonette in 2011. They remodeled it to bring back "that homemade feel," and added the ice cream shop soon after.

“It’s a lot of comfort food,” Stella said. “Come here when you’re hungry.”
