CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. — Carlo Filippone found his love for healthy eating and bodybuilding while growing up in Cliffside Park.
Now he's giving back to his hometown by teaching good habits to kids.
"Children from birth should instill good eating habits," Filippone said.
"If you teach them that, that’s all they know. It becomes all they know, it becomes awkward to eat unhealthy. "
Filippone will hold an assembly on healthy eating habits at Cliffside Park School #3 and #5 and March 21 and 23.
He started professional body building at age 21 and later on became the North American Body Building Champion in 2004 and 2007.
Now he runs a gourmet food service, Elite Lifestyle Cuisine .
Filippone acknowledged that healthy eating is a habit, but those who eat junk food can try following a simple rule to work on correcting course.
"If it’s grown from the ground that’s what you should be eating," Filippone said.
