EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Over 80 volunteers gathered this weekend to beautify East Rutherford's park and gazebo on Railroad Avenue, Councilman Joel Brizzi discussed in a Sunday Facebook post.
The project began when Liz Bucceri approached him six weeks ago, about the possibility of the the East Rutherford Daisies -- the Daisies being the youngest level of Girl Scouts -- doing a beautification project in the borough. And this was a great fit, Brizzi said, because he'd looking for a group to help beautify this particular area.
In addition to local people-power, companies also assisted. Meadowlands True Value Hardware, Lowe's, Terre nursery, Rose Landscaping and Outdoor Living donated over $1,000 in plants and materials.
The Daisies also used money they had raised, Brizzi noted, and Maria Traficante also donated $20.
Volunteers from the Daisies were joined by members of the East Rutherford Civic pride organization, the Becton Regional and Faust School environmental clubs, and other Viridian Energy associates. Bruzzi is also an associate with this green-energy company, which also provided coffee and Dunkin' Donuts.
