MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Public Library and the Afrikan Brotherhood will present Kwanzaa: a Celebration of (NIA) Purpose on Wednesday, Dec. 30, in the library's Grace Greene Baker Community Room.

Kwanzaa is celebrated by African-Americans nationwide. It is a time to reflect upon history and look forward to the future.

The event will be an opportunity to learn about the history, customs and traditions of Kwanzaa. There will be African drummers and dancers and a village marketplace. Light refreshments will be served.

The celebration begins at 6 p.m. at the library, 28 South St.
