A borough man created a special account to help family members care for three children who were rescued from their home after their father killed their mother and then himself on Wednesday.

"As the family copes with the overwhelming grief of the loss, the mounting costs surrounding the family are difficult to absorb," Joseph Bisone wrote on the GoFundMe page for the three youngsters -- ages 14, 11 and 9.

Scott Sabia, 45, shot and killed his wife, Michele, 44, a Rutherford schoolteacher, on the lawn of their Union Street home before returning inside and turning the shotgun on himself, authorities said.

"My prayers are with those sweet children," Nichole Pineman said.

"No one should endure a tragedy like this," added Kellie Salata.
