Susan Carpenter, a teacher for 16 years, was diagnosed with acute leukemia and had to temporarily relocate away from her family for four months to New York City for intense treatment at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, the page says.

She will have to remain out of work for a year until her immune system is no longer compromised.

Carpenter has "touched the lives of hundreds of young children in Kindergarten and First Grade," organizer Alfred F. Baffa wrote.

Donations will go toward sustaining her family and defraying uncovered medical expenses while Carpenter is unable to work.
