East Rutherford Residents Must License Dogs In January

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Rutherford is reminding residents dog licenses must be obtained by Jan. 4 at the borough clerk's office.

As per state law and borough ordinance, all dogs within the borough must be licensed on a yearly basis. Licenses are valid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 each year. 

License fees are $10 for spayed/neutered dogs, $13 for non-spayed/non-neutered dogs. 

Proof of rabies vaccination is required to obtain a 2016 license. The vaccination must not expire prior to November. There will be a free rabies clinic from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the East Rutherford Civic Center, 37 Vreeland Ave. 

If you have moved out of the borough or your pet has died, please call (201) 933-3444 Ext. 273 to be removed from the list. Please be advised a summons will be issued for any license not renewed by March 15.

Borough Hall is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
