GLEN ROCK, N.J. — A Glen Rock police officer who said he was fired for being gay will get his job back — along with $750,000 from the borough, multiple sources report.

In October of 2014, the Glen Rock terminated the employment of Police Officer Matthew Stanislao, and a week later, Stanislao filed suit against the borough, Mayor Bruce Packer said.

"In the spirit of moving forward, the Borough pursued, and has now achieved, a full and final settlement, which will reinstate Stanislao to the Glen Rock Police Department," Packer said.

"Neither Stanislao nor the Borough has admitted any fault or liability in connection to the termination nor the litigation, and the settlement was made with knowledge by both parties of the risks, uncertainty and costs of continuing litigation."

Packer welcomed Stanislao back to the department "in a spirit of reconciliation and a clean slate on all sides."

All claims will be dismissed, the mayor said.
