Summit Medical Group on Union Avenue, served by David Isralowitz, M.D and Robert Wooton, D.O., will close effective Dec. 23 to align with the group's Clifton office.

"Summit is a believer of a consolidated office with multiple specialties and easy accessibility to those doctors," said Isralowitz, a Rutherford resident who also serves on the board of the borough's senior building and activity center, 55 Kip Center. "Nothing is really changing except the location. People will still get the same level of care. We will balance the large office with the personal touch of the small. I make myself very accessible."

He said he's personally not leaving Rutherford, nor is his mother, who still lives above his office location at 128 Union Ave.

"I bought the building in 1952 from Dr. Silverman, who built it. I lived there and when I moved across town, my parents moved in," he said, noting his father has since passed away.

Isralowitz, a board certified gerontologist, also served as Rutherford's school physician for 38 years.

"I'll always be in Rutherford. This is a great town and I love it here."

He said he's been impressed with the Summit Group and sees the value of having a coordination of care.

"When my patients see a specialist at Summit, everything is instantly reported to me. I know everything that is going on, all that is prescribed," he said. "Nothing will change with how I see my patients. They will still have the same 24/7 care. I will still be at Hackensack Medical Center, which is important."

Wooton, Isralowitz's partner, already has transitioned most of his patients to Clifton.

The Clifton location is a more modern facility and offers an array of specialties, such as cardiology; ear, nose, and throat; endocrinology; gastroenterology, pulmonology; lab services and more.

It's less than 4miles from the Rutherford office and can be accessed by local roads over the Union Avenue bridge through Passaic.

"I realize there are some patients, particularly some of my older patients, who can't get to the Clifton office and I'm working on that," Isralowitz said, adding he's even getting in touch with doctors who make house calls. "No one will be abandoned."
