Twelve awards will be given at the 2016 Bergen County Historic Preservation Awards on Thursday, May 5 in Hackensack.
The Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs and Historic Preservation Advisory Board will stage the 7 p.m. event at the “Church on the Green,” the First Reformed Church of Hackensack.
Awards will be presented by County Executive Jim Tedesco, county freeholders and advisory board members.
This year's recipients include:
Continuing Preservation and Use: Hackensack's "Church on the Green" cemetery.
Preservation Education: Fort Lee’s Annual “Retreat to Victory”; New Milford's Historic Map Preservation Project and Brochure; Saddle Brook Middle and High School history teacher Amanda Klein for involving students with historic preservation.
Preservation Leadership: Patricia Finn, Allendale founder of "Save the Fell House Committee; Former Closter Mayor Sophie Heymann, Leader in Historic Preservation; Rod Leith, Rutherford Municipal Historian.
Claire Tholl Award for Lifetime Achievement in Historic Preservation: Tim Adriance, Bergenfield, a leader in historic preservation in New Jersey for more than 30 years.
