Depositing leaves or other waste into the street can result in a fine up to $1,000 and an appearance in municipal court.
The DPW picks up leaves and other vegetative every other Wednesday, with the following rules::
- The leaves are placed in biodegradable (not plastic) bags or containers
- The containers are placed at the curb
- Each container must weigh no more than 50 pounds
- Brush and tree branches must also be placed in biodegradable containers, or be cut up to no more than 4-feet long and bundled together.
Residents can also dispose of the waste at the DPW facility on the east end of Highland Cross on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
For more information, call the DPW on weekdays at 201-460-3040 or go to the Borough’s website.
