CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Mix business with pleasure at a Meadowlands summer networking event on Thursday at Redd's Restaurant and Bar in Carlstadt.
This annual event sponsored by the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce focuses on contractors and builders but all businesses are invited.
"We’re a big proponent of building relationships — people do business with people they like and trust," said Jim Kirkos, CEO of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce. "Even if you can’t do business with anyone there, you'll get referrals."
The event kicks off fundraising efforts for the MRCC's Basket Brigade, a mission to feed the needy that began in 2012 following Hurricane Sandy."Every year the day before Thanksgiving we prepare 100 baskets for needy families," said Kirkos. "After Sandy, we delivered to Moonachie, Little Ferry, Carlstadt, any towns most affected. Now we work through local mayors' offices to determine the neediest families."
Suggested donation is $10 per person for the Basket Brigade. Donation includes food and there will be a cash bar.
The event runs takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and is hosted by the MRCC's Contractors & Building Services committee.
"Everyone should attend; there is a lot of education in this sector," said Kirkos. "All businesses can gain by expanding their sphere of influence on both sides of equation — of things they need to acquire and purchase. It's a good place to gather business intelligence in a casual after work environment.
