Arline M.Furrer, 78, Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Rutherford resident Arline M. Furrer died Thursday, April 28. She was 78. 

Born in Jersey City to Joseph McNally and Ellen (Phelan), Furrer was a secretary employed with the FBI in New York City, where she met her husband, Joseph E. Furrer, who predeceased her. 

She was active with St Mary’s Parish and Rutherford youth Sports. She also worked for Panasonic and Fairleigh Dickinson University. 

Furrer is survived by her sons, William J. Furrer and his wife Adelaide, Robert F. Furrer, Donald E. Furrer and his wife Katie, Joseph M. Furrer and his wife Nicole, Edward M. Furrer, James R. Furrer and his wife Melissa; and grandchildren, Brandon, Matthew, Abigail, James, Molly, Owen and Nathaniel.

She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph. 

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.

The funeral will be Monday, with family and friends gathering at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary of Rutherford, 91 Home Ave.

Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
