Benjamin Iacovelli, 87, East Rutherford Resident

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Benjamin Joseph Iacovelli -- an East Rutherford resident of 17 years, who formerly lived in Lyndhurst for 25 years -- died on Monday, Feb. 15. He was 87.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Iacovelli retired from Hummel Corp., in Kearny, where he was a machinist for 20 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Lyndhurst, as well as an avid golfer and bowler.

Iacovelli is survived by his children, Debra Kelly, Michelle Najarian and Jean Iacovelli; son-in-law James Najarian; grandchildren Scott Iacovelli and his wife Kelli, Ryan Iacovelli and William Najarian; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the dear brother of Margaret Hahn, Paul Iacovelli, Alfred Iacovelli and the late Joseph Iacovelli, Frank Iacovelli, Carlo Iacovelli, Mario Iacovelli, Mary Colditz, Antoinette Lampiasi and Celia Iacovelli.

Iacovelli was predeceased by his son, Raymond Iacovelli; son-in-law Kevin Kelly.

Cremation was private. Visiting hours will be from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., in Carlstadt, with a service at 6:30 p.m.
