Beverly New Ehrhardt, 86, Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Beverly New Ehrhardt, of Rutherford, died Friday, May 20. She was 86.

Born and raised in Rutherford, she graduated from Edgewood Park High School in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. and graduated from Centenary College in Hackettstown.

She was a former member of the Rutherford Ambulance Corp. Her parents founded Ellwood S. New Inc. in 1926, a real estate and insurance firm in Rutherford, and continued for three generations in which she, her husband, Jack, and their daughter Judy worked for many years.

In 1967, she and her family moved to Saddle River, where she enjoyed gardening and her horses.

She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Ehrhardt Gildea and her husband, Chip, of Saddle River, Judith Ehrhardt Higgins and her husband, John, of Ho-Ho-Kus, and B.J. Ehrhardt of Goshen, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Brian Gildea, his wife, Mary, Kristin Gildea Fox, and her husband, Ryan, Ashley Higgins Dieck, and her husband, Christopher, Brenley Higgins, McLain Cheney, Ryan Stiskin and Skyler Stiskin; and five great-grandchildren, Thomas Gildea, Alison Gildea, Sutton Fox, Peyton Fox and Hannah Dieck.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2005. They were married for 55 years.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service begins at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst.
