RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Carmella "Millie" (Banca) Poalillo, 99, formerly of Rutherford, died Monday, Dec. 7.
She would have celebrated her 100th birthday Jan. 18.
She was the daughter of Mary (Lascari) Banca and Thomas Banca.
She was predeceased by her husband, Victor J. Poalillo.
Her greatest pleasure was helping her family with sewing, gardening and making quilts with lots of love tucked in each stitch.
She was the mother of Lydia (Poalillo) Lancette and her husband Peter J. Lancette, of Webster, Ma.; grandmother of Peter J. Lancette II and his wife Lisa Garrone Lancette;, and great-grandmother of Juliana Carmella Lancette and Andrew J. Lancette, of Charlton, Mass.
She was predeceased by her youngest grandson, Douglas B. Lancette. She was the oldest of seven and sister of the late Lucy Banca Liberti, Anna Banca Kielmeir, Dominic Banca, Vito Banca, Salvatore Banca and Adolph Banca.
Poalillo was an owner of the White House Restaurant in Carlstadt, along with brothers-in-law Barney Liberti and Henry Zila, who was a lifelong friend.
Visitation and funeral will be at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, NJ at a time and date to be announced.
