RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Frank Joseph Arena, 90, of Rutherford, died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015.
He was born Jan. 27, 1925 in Jersey City, to Joseph and Anna (nee Galano) Arena.
He was the husband of Anne (nee Russo) who died in 2002.
He was the father of Joseph, Cheryl Matanin, Franca Reisen and John Arena; grandfather of Evan, Joseph, Jayanne, Michael, Casey, Brielle, Paul and Julian; and great-grandfather of Rocco, Vincent and Michael Francis.
Arena was employed by the Rutherford Board of Education for 23 years as a custodial engineer. He also was involved in the Rutherford High School football program as a trainer, supporter and friend to many students and staff. He also umpired Babe Ruth Baseball for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Elk's & Sargent of Arms for Rutherford Unico.
There will be a funeral service at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home, 41 Ames Ave., Rutherford, follwed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home .
