John L. Krause Sr., 80, Of Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- John L. Krause Sr., 80, a lifelong resident of Secaucus, passed away Saturday March 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. 

Born to Alfred and Lois (nee Seigner) Krause, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1956-58. 

He was a funeral home assistant with Gerald Blacker Livery Service in Jersey City for 25 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Secaucus. He was an avid Giants and Notre Dame fan. 

Krause was predeceased by his wife, Elsie (nee Clark); and by his brother, Alfred. 

He is survived by his son John L. Jr. and fiancé Joanie Cabrera, of Kearny, and daughter Michelle C. Vanacore and husband John, of Rutherford; his sister, Florence Tarantino, of Secaucus; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Jonathan, Annie, Lucia and Charlie. 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 800 Roosevelt Ave., Secaucus. Cremation will be private.
