Lee Marie Marino, 104, Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Lee Marie Marino (Prisco), of Rutherford, died Sunday, Feb. 28. She was 104.

She was born in Hoboken to Salvatore Prisco and Nicoletta ( Marinelli), one of seven children. 

She was employed by United Jersey Bank in Rutherford on the platform for many years and retired in 1983 at the age of 72. She also volunteered as a lunch aid for all the public schools, taking care of students for 11 years. She was well known for her baking and cooking, especially her eggplant parmesan, but her best dish was her Norwegian nut cake that she made for all her family, friends and neighbors during the Christmas season.

She walked everywhere no matter the distance. During her younger years, she loved to dance and won a Peabody Contest at the Roseland Dance Hall in New York City in the 1940s.

She was the wife of the late Vincent Marino, who predeceased her in 2008. They lived in Rutherford for 57 years, where they raised their family.

She is survived by her daughters Leslie and Colette Marino, and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. A funeral will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford. Interment will take place at Crest Haven Cemetery, Clifton.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
