Oriliana 'Ori' Briganti, 81, Of East Rutherford

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Oriliana "Ori" Briganti (nee Bivona), 81, of East Rutherford and formerly of Rutherford, died Tuesday, Dec. 29.

She grew up in Sicily coming to the United States at age 21. She married Charlie Briganti in 1962.

She had a strong faith in God, enjoying Bible study by herself and with other like-minded believers. She enjoyed nature, especially the stars, the ocean and the great variety of flowers and trees. She was known for her sharp sense of humor, love of laughter and infectious smile.

She was predeceased by her husband,

She was the mother of Anna Maria Creighton and her husband Gordon of Glen Rock, Daniel Briganti and his wife Patty of Mansfield, Marc Briganti and his wife Angelina of Mansfield, Loredana Schwertfeger and her husband Dirk of Carlstadt and the late Charles C. Briganti; grandmother of Charlie, Melissa, John, Chris, Michael, Joseph, Matthew, Gabriella, Nicholas, Sean, Sophia and Olivia; great-grandmother of Kaitlyn and Emily; and sister of Salvatore Bivona and his wife Marta, Maurizio Bivona and his wife Graziella, Riccardo Bivona and Silvana Cangialosi and her husband Silvio.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 S.h Farview Ave., Paramus. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
