Richard “Dick” Amato Of Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Richard “Dick” Amato, of Rutherford, passed away Friday, Dec. 18th, 2015. 

He was born to Cosmo and Lucia Amato in Hoboken. 

He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served during the Korean War. 

He was last employed for 15 years with Square D Co. in Lyndhurst. He also was a former Rutherford fireman with Hose Company #1 and first assistant chief on the hook and ladder. He wrote poetry and songs and had a great sense of humor.

Amato was predeceased by his wife Margaret Rose (nee Lapnow).

He is survived by his son, Richard Amato; his daughter, Lucy Bailey and husband Lew, Gail Olivola, his sons Larry Amato and John Amato and son- in-law Jim Olivola; six grandchildren, Jaclyn Ashley Laurino, Jim “Jimbo” Olivola, Richie Beach, Lauren Taylor Olivola, John Amato, Raymond Amato; and many nieces nephews and friends. 

The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.

The family will receive friends from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
