Richard J. Kikkert, 89, Of Carlstadt

CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Richard J. Kikkert, of Carlstadt, died Aug 7. He was 89. 

He was born July 15, 1927.

For two years, he worked for the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, which is now the Drug Enforcement Administration, and also was a graduate of the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. He later worked for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, retiring as the chief of detectives. 

After retiring from his career in law enforcement, he went on to receive his law degree. He then worked as an attorney for the Bergen County Public Defenders Office and lastly for the law office of Frank T. Luciano in Lodi. 

He is survived by his children, Donna C. Frey, Richard J. Kikkert Jr. and his wife Johanna, Deborah L. Kikkert and her spouse Dorothy Hay and the late Michael Kikkert; grandchildren, Bruce Frey, Eric Frey, Daniel Kikkert and Kyle Kikkert; and great-grandchild, Cate Frey. 

There will be a funeral departing at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt for a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass in Assumption R.C. Church, Wood-Ridge. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
