Sadie 'Sally' A. Aloise, 92, Longtime Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Sadie "Sally" A. Aloise, a longtime resident of Rutherford, died on Wednesday, Feb 1. She was 92.

Born in Vineland, Aloise grew up in Hoboken, "during which time some of her greatest pleasures and fondest memories were those of singing and dancing with friends to the tunes of the Big Band era," information from the funeral home noted.

She was a homemaker, but she was also an administrative assistant for several local physicians and corporations. "Sally loved fashion and travel," the funeral home added. "She was a fantastic cook who enjoyed entertaining friends and family in her home."

Aloise is survived by her children, Louis and his wife Grace of Sutton, Massachusetts, and Theresa Van Schoyck and her husband Peter of Glen Rock; and grandchildren Nicole Serkes and her husband Matthew, Lauren Aloise and her husband Alejandro Cabrera Munoz, Lindsay Aloise Graf and her husband Dennis, and Philip Aloise.

She was also survived by her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Anthony, Lilianna and Annalisa; niece Delfina Bowles; and several nieces, a nephew and her friends.  

Aloise was preceded by her husband of 70 years, Filiberto "Phil" Aloise; seven siblings; and grandson Jason Eric.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at the Macagna-Diffily-Onorato Funeral Home, 41 Ames Ave., in Rutherford. The funeral will from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m., then to the Church of St. Mary, in Rutherford, for a 10:30 a.m. funeral mass. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, in North Arlington.
