Spencer Manser, 66, Longtime Rutherford Resident

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Spencer Manser, a 38-year resident of Rutherford, died on Saturday, May 21. He was 66.

A Navy veteran, Manser was a rigger with Joseph M. Sanzari for over 30 years and was a member of Teamsters Local 560. He was a lifelong parishioner of St Joseph's Church, in East Rutherford.

"He was a devoted father and Poppi whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren," information from the funeral home noted. He was an avid sports fan and fisherman.

Manser is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara (Marzocca) Manser; children Jennifer Manser O'Rourke and her husband Ryan, Lauren Manser, and David Manser and his wife Caroline Rudowski Manser; his grandchildren Avery, Ashlyn, Brendan and Ella; sister Mickey DeRosa; sister-in-law Patricia Fischer and her husband Ted Fischer, brother-in-law John Marzocca and wife Michelle Marzocca; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mary (Mae) and David Manser, and his siblings, Faith Cherasia and David Manser.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., in Rutherford. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday from the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. mass at St. Joseph's Parish, 120 Hoboken Rd., in E. Rutherford. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, in Paramus.
