A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard who served during WWII, Syrek lived in East Rutherford most of his life. He worked as an injection molding operator at the Bendix Corp. for more than 40 years. In addition, he was a member, past president, and chaplain of the Wallington V.F.W. Pavlick Koster Post 2640.
He is survived by sons Gerald Syrek (Terry) and Gregory Syrek (Lois); his grandchildren Jeffrey, Kerry, and great-grandchildren, Jared, Deven, and Zoey.
He was predeceased by his wife Mildred Syrek and his brother Edwin Syrek.
