RUTHERFORD, N. J. -- Thomas "Thom" David Casadonte, a longtime Rutherford resident and former Rutherford Public Schools board member, died Dec. 2. He was 52.
Born Oct. 7, 1963 to Joseph A. and Ellen Casadonte in Jersey City, Casadonte grew up in North Arlington and later moved to Rutherford.
After graduating from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a bachelor of arts degree in economics, he attended Columbia University's Business School for Executive Education, Business Admin/Marketing.
His career included experiential marketing, communication and financial roles with Sony, IBM, George P. Johnson, Maritz. For more than the last five years, he's been Bloomberg LP’s global head of experiential and event marketing based in New York City .
He was a member of the Rutherford Board of Education for 12 years and served as its president from 2007-13. He also was a soccer coach with Rutherford ’s travel soccer team and Mount St. Dominic Academy’s off-season travel soccer team.
He and his family were longtime parishioners of Queen of Peace Church, where he was married 25 years ago.
He is survived by his wife Teresa (nee Beaulac), daughters Kathryne and Madeleine, his mother Ellen, his brothers Joseph and Edward and his son-in-law to be, Matthew Gross.
He was pre-deceased by his father Joseph A. Casadonte.
A visitation is planned from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Calhoun Mania Funeral Home in Rutherford. The funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington.
