YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Carlstadt dock worker hit his fiancée in the chest with a bag of mason jars and threatened to harm her during an argument, for which he was arrested, police said.

Detective Sgt. David Smith and Officers William Pangaro and Anthony Bellina took 36-year-old Jose Luyando III into custody on Sunday, after the frightened woman left the house with their children, Police Chief Thomas Nielsen said this morning.

Luyano posted $2,500 bail and was released pending a Jan. 1 Municipal Court hearing on charges of simple assault and making terroristic threats.
