YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Amid heavy security, Governors Chris Christie and Andrew Cuomo held a private lunch meeting at Il Villaggio’s in Carlstadt today, multiple sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .
What the New Jersey and New York governors discussed in the private room at the Route 17 restaurant wasn’t immediately known.
“There are some things that should be kept private,” owner Ralph Magliocchetti told CLIFFVIEW PILOT , refusing to answer any questions about the meeting.
Magliocchetti’s restaurant has long been a popular destination for high-ranking government officials and politicos looking to avoid the spotlight. He said he’d like to keep it that way.
Il Villaggio remained open for business, although security was tight and included several New Jersey State Police troopers, one patron said.
“We were very busy,” Magliocchetti acknowledged.
