EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The driver of an SUV that plowed into an East Rutherford home over the weekend was drunk and combative with officers, police said.
Officers arrested Manuwal Garcia Reyes, 31, of East Rutherford on charges of DWI, resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer after his 2005 Honda Pilot crashed into the Paterson Avenue home just after 3 a.m. Saturday, Police Chief Larry Minda said.
A judge ordered Garcia Reyes held on $15,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, he said.
The officers were treated at Hackensack University Medical Center for minor injuries and released, the chief said.
The building department was inspecting the house's structural integrity, he said.
