East Rutherford Swears In New Police Officer

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — East Rutherford officials swore in the 38th -- and youngest -- member of their police department in a Borough Hall ceremony.

A borough native, 23-year-old John DeCamp, Jr. was graduated from the Bergen County Police Academy last June.

He received a bachelor's degree in justice studies from Montclair State University.

"I have watched John grow up since coaching him in t-ball through graduating high school," East Rutherford Police Commissioner Joel Brizzi told Daily Voice. "He has become a great young man, husband and father, and I am very proud to hire him."
