Garbage truck loses brakes, hits cars, downs power lines in Fairview

PHOTOS: A driver escaped serious injury after his garbage truck barreled down a hill in Fairview this afternoon, striking several cars, smashing utility poles and downing power lines, before tipping on Broad Avenue.

No one else was hurt after the driver apparently lost his brakes on Prospect Avenue and the truck smacked five poles and a few vehicles before coming around the corner

A heavy duty wrecker was called to remove the truck, while PSE&G crews worked to replace and repair the poles and restore area power.
