Police told CLIFFVIEW PILOT they were trying to positively identify the man, who said he’s 30 years old, from Newark and gave them the name Angel Pacheco.

Officers got a report at 12:26 this afternoon that a house in the 700 block of Rutherford Avenue was burglarized.

The victim and another civilian chased the bandit on foot, but he ducked through several backyards and lost them two blocks away.

Police Capt. Peter Shellhamer saw the suspect walking on Second Avenue near Ridge Road, got out of his cruiser and took him into custody.

Police they found several items stolen from the house that were dropped along the route — including an X-Box and several other electronic items.

“So far it appears everything has been recovered,” an officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
