Three others were hospitalized with serious injuries and a fourth with minor injuries, Police Chief Larry Minda told Daily Voice. All were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, he said.

An investigation continued late Sunday morning at the site, near the Hilton Hotel, as fans headed to the Giants games against the Baltimore Ravens.

Because of where the 3:19 a.m. crash happened, eastbound motorists were able to get to MetLife Stadium by driving over the Berry's Creek Bridge service road.

However, eastbound Route 3 remained closed  between the service Road and Route 120.

East Rutherford police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigation Unit were investigating.

"I have detectives up at the hospital and at the scene right now," Minda told Daily Voice just before 11 a.m.
