Edira Durakovic, 36, of Rutherford, was released pending a hearing next week following an investigation that led to her arrest.

Detective Michael Cebulski went to work after police were notified of the theft on Sept. 23, Detective Capt. Robert M. Guidetti said this afternoon.

Besides arresting Durakovic on theft charges, Cebulski recovered two of five stolen pieces of jewelry, Guidetti said.

The captain also offered some advice:

“There are hundreds of cleaning services in the Bergen County area,” he said. “Because there are so many companies available, knowing how to choose and hire a house cleaning service can seem like an overwhelming task.

“We recommend always ask family, friends or neighbors for referrals and try to eliminate companies that are not insured or bonded,” Guidetti said.

Also, he said: “Always hide your valuables, and never give out your alarm code.

“This will not stop a theft from happening,” Guidetti said. “However, it will limit your exposure to becoming a victim.”
