Agents “detected something unusual” about 48-year-old Oscar Ramirez carry-on items as they passed through the X-ray machine at a security checkpoint in Terminal 1 yesterday morning, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Removing the bottom of a Nintendo PlayStation 2 “Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots” game, they discovered a concealed piece of a Ruger handgun, he said.

Other pieces were found “tucked alongside a tripod and among his other belongings,” Pentangelo said.

Authority officers took Ramirez into custody on an illegal weapons charge, he said.
