BEYOND BERGEN: Port Authority police arrested a 36-year-old Brooklyn fare-jumper who they said was nearly grabbed by two bystsanders — one of whom pulled out a dreadlock — after he punched a woman at a PATH station, fracturing her orbital bone.

Ibrahim King jumped the turnstiles at the 9th Street station in Manhattan, paced the platform and then punched the 21-year-old victim as they both headed out an exit around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, the Port Authority’s Steve Coleman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .

Two men who were with her chased down and tackled King, but he broke free and took off, Coleman said.

“During the struggle, one of [his] dreadlocks was torn from his scalp,” he said.

The victim and one of her rescuers were treated at Belleview Hospital.

Using closed-circuit TV images obtained at the station, PAPD detectives issued an alert, then got a tip.

That led them to King’s grandmother’s house, where Coleman said they arrested him and seized a jacket that they said he was wearing the night of the incident.

King was charged with two counts of assault and theft of services for jumping the turnstile he said.
