Police seek witnesses to Route 3 wrong-way fatal crash

Police are hoping to find witnesses to a fiery crash on Route 3 in Clifton last night, in which a GMC truck headed the wrong way slammed head-on into a Camaro, killing the car’s 80-year-old driver.

The 2000 GMC Yukon, driven by a 44-year-old Nutley, woman entered Route 3 east headed west just after 11:30 before it crashed into the 1983 Chevy, police said.

The Yukon’s driver was ejected and later taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, which has a trauma unit.

The 80-year-old Rutherford resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
