Port Authority police make two GWB saves in one morning

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Port Authority police had their second “intervention” of the day at the George Washington Bridge late this morning when they talked a suicidal Connecticut man from the railing.

The 42-year-old Darien, CT man was staring over the railing “for an extended period of time” midway across the span when the officer found him at 11:30 a.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

Talking to him, they quickly “determined he was suicidal,” Pentangelo said.

EMS responded and took him to nearby New York-Presbyterian Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Four hours earlier, Port Authority officers alerted by Rutherford police found a 50-year-old suicidal man a block from the bridge had him taken for a psychiatric evaluation. READ MORE….
