BEYOND BERGEN: An East Rutherford man was pulled from the Hudson River after he jumped in on a dare, authorities said.
The 22-year-old leaped off the south end of Pier A park after friends dared him, then struggled in the water and had to be rescued with a rope and a ladder by responders who included Hoboken police and firefighters and the NYPD’s Aviation and Harbor units.
He was hospitalized as a precaution and issued a city ordinance summons for swimming in water adjacent to a public park.
Police Chief Ken Ferrante praised the work of the various agencies.
