NORWOOD, N.J. – Underscoring recent urgings by law enforcement throughout Bergen County to lock your car and take your keys and key fobs, Norwood police reported three vehicles stolen before dawn Saturday.

A fourth potential victim said someone left empty-handed after entering a vehicle, authorities said.

All of the incidents occurred east of Piermont Road, Police Chief Jeffrey Krapels said.

One of the stolen vehicles was recovered in Norwood and the other two in Newark – one of which exited the New Jersey Turnpike around 5 a.m. Saturday, the chief said E-ZPass records show.

“Residents are urged to keep their vehicles locked and to remove their key fobs from parked vehicles,” Krapels said.

The chief also asked residents and merchants to check their surveillance video, in the hopes that images of the thieves were captured.
