SHOUT OUT: A host of desirable prizes continues to grow for a tricky tray fundraiser next month for an East Rutherford man on the heart transplant list.
A sports enthusiast who played baseball and football, Mark Roth went into cardiac arrest running to first base while playing youth baseball in 1998. The Becton Regional High School graduate was 18.
Roth, 36, was diagnosed with IHHS, now more commonly known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
“An internal defibrillator and pace maker implanted along with multiple medication therapy had to be implanted to help Mark live a somewhat normal life,” a GoFundMe established for him says.
“Throughout the years he has developed several arrhythmias. His internal defibrillator has fired many many times He recently underwent several procedures including cardio version and two cardiac ablations.
“He is currently on continuous IV medication therapy delivered directly to the heart and has been placed on heart transplant list.”
