The victim sustained a facial injury after being struck near the corner of Passaic Street and Rochelle Avenue, Lt. Dean Pinto said.

The victim was conscious when the Rochelle Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Hackensack University Medical Center, the lieutenant said.

The Knights cancelled the rest of the day's collections after the accident, said Kathleen Ryan Cronin, whose husband is a Grand Knight.

Founded in 1941, the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council #2842 conducts the coin drive every April to fund various projects. This month's drive aims to help developmentally disabled youngsters.
