ALPINE, N.J. – Bergen County features five of the 20 towns in New Jersey with the highest percentage of homes over $1 million, including Alpine which comes in at number three in the state, according to a list released by NJ.com.

The rankings were created by examining property tax assessments from the state, the article says.

The Bergen County municipalities with the highest percentage of homes assessed at $1 million or more, and their state rankings are:

  • 18: Franklin Lakes (41.9 percent of properties assessed at $1 million or more)
  • 9: Englewood Cliffs (61.4 percent of properties assessed at $1 million or more)
  • 6. Saddle River (75.1 percent of properties assessed at $1 million or more)
  • 4. Rockleigh (80.3 percent of properties assessed at $1 million or more)
  • 3. Alpine (81.3 percent of properties assessed at $1 million or more)
