CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Sixth-grade students at Carlstadt Public School recently made buttons to show solidarity with Belgium, after the March 22 terrorist attacks that killed 32 -- including four Americans -- and wounded over 300.

Some seventh- and eighth-grade students joined in the project. The buttons are in the colors of the Belgian flag, and they were a result of discussing the attack, sixth-grade teacher Esther Fletcher said.

"My students realized that there was a problem and mobilized to show support," she said. "We took a moment reflect on the sadness of terrorism and then chose to move forward in peace."
