EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- After two mediation sessions that each ran late into the night, the East Rutherford Education Association (EREA) and Board of Education are hoping to schedule a third session sooner rather than later.
Association President Lisa Fallon told the Daily Voice she hoped a deal finally will be agreed upon for the teachers, secretaries, and support staff who've been withotut a contract since June.
Schools Supt. Joe Abate said he expects another mediation session will be scheduled soon.
Neither side disclosed specifics from the closed-door meetings.
Roughly 75 teachers picketed before Tuesday night's session at Faust Elementary School.
Members of the Carlstadt Education Association, Carlstadt-East Rutherford (Becton) Education Association and Bergenfield Education Association joined EREA members on the picket line, Fallon said.
Asked what he thought of the picketing, Abate said: "It is their right."
