The sacred and usually-maroon rock that sits in the corner of their field was a painted light blue — the school color of Wayne Valley High, NorthJersey.com reports.
Parents and coaches were disappointed by their rivals' alleged actions, but instead chose to fight back courageously, the article says.
"We fear no spear or paint," the teams wrote on the rock. "Prepared to defend, ready to repeat."
