RUTHERFORD, N.J. — In anticipation of the 2017 completion of American Dream Meadowlands in East Rutherford, a developer has applied to the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) to alter the 2012 Paterson Plank Road Redevelopment Plan, NorthJersey.com reported.
The adjustment was made in order to construct 397 units of housing and 765 parking spaces on an eight-acre site located at 932 Paterson Plank Road, the article says.
"American Dream Meadowlands will seriously exacerbate the shortage of housing in the district," Catalyst Development Partners, LLC say in a zoning certificate application and a petition to amend the redevelopment plan submitted to NJSEA.
"By generating 11,000 new jobs, but no new housing literally down the street from the Paterson Plank Road Redevelopment Plan, the need for additional housing in close proximity to American Dream Meadowlands becomes a planning emergency."
The proposed development by Catalyst would add 826 new residents to East Rutherford.
